Don't lose hope!
Our nations have fallen to poverty... Not a poverty of economics but a moral poverty.
Capitalism, as we know it, emerged in the mid-nineteenth century. It's been far more successful than any other system, partly because it was implemented in a time when humanity, especially in the west, lived with a moral foundation at the core of its society.
People behaved in an honorable manner because kindness, fairness and justice were held in high esteem as the vast majority of the west was made up of Christian families and even those who weren't would still agree to the fundamental truths of biblical scripture when it came to laws and common decency. Of course there have always been evil men who worshipped the all-mighty dollar above all else, but for the average family there was a sense of community.
As time has progressed, we've witnessed that sense of community fade away and with it went any sense of community standards. As a result, the focus has become much more self focused. That degradation has followed suit in the corporate world as well. As the sense of pride in our towns, provinces and country has declined, so has our willingness to care about the well-being of our neighbors. Our sense of shame has disappeared because we no longer know our communities or care what they think of us.
While big business has always had corruption, it was kept at bay by other, morally decent players, however, as time has passed there have been less and less of that morality and the system has been overrun by corruption. Not because the system isn't great but any system that is completely overrun by faulty parts is going to fail.
Capitalism has lifted more people out of poverty than every other system combined but it can't continue to function if the people entrusted to keep it functioning are morally bankrupt.
When morally bankrupt people do something wrong, their response is often "well, it's not illegal". "Legal" has become the standard when morality isn't, but because laws were established from biblical morality, the law doesn't do it's job if we as a society lose sight of what made the law moral in the first place. So... they change. We have adjusted law to fit our societies lack of morals and without that foundation, the entire thing is collapsing.
Christians have seen this coming for a long time. Infact, the Bible is very clear about how much society will degrade in the last days. We will continue to fight against it but we know how it will play out. The important thing for us is to keep that moral foundation in our own hearts and in our families.
The more time passes, the bigger outcasts we will become and that means we're doing it right.
If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you. John 15:18
I have had my life threatened in my own city. I've been doxxed, and I've lost countless friends. Things may become much worse. It is important for all of us to remember that we may be financially poor but we are the most spiritually rich people on earth and it is our job to "share the wealth" regardless of societies moral decay.
Don't lose hope!
