Blog #38 - God Given Identity

So, as Christians, we find ourselves on the 'right' politically and it's obvious why.

There has been several new studies of late, that have determined that politically left leaning people tend to be much less happy and fullfilled in life. While this fact is obvious to many, the reasons for their misery are much less understood.

The left are very focused on identity and get very wrapped up in which of the various tribes they belong to. Black, gay, trans... a seemingly endless list of titles that they consider virtuous and therefore want to belong to as many as possible. It's become a religion in our modern world and the members of these groups find their identity in them.

For those of us who can see through the hypocrisy and cultism of the whole thing, it seems obvious why the ideology doesn't hold up when faced with even the slightest scrutiny but, it's a part of society for the moment and so we deal.

Most Christians know exactly why it is that leftist ideology is wrong and don't have much trouble articulating the wrongs in such belief.

God is very clear on such things in His word and leftists believe the exact opposite of what the Bible says and therefore, we disagree and if we have any sense, we stand against it. The issue, of course, is that God created everyone in His image and with meaning and purpose. To live in opposition to that purpose is to live a miserable and meaningless life.

So, as Christians, we find ourselves on the 'right' politically and it's obvious why, however, I believe that the divide between "left" and "right" has actually created monsters of us all in many ways.

It is not God's intent that anyone should cut off body parts and take harmful drugs to feel like "themselves" but we on the right are often on a harmful path because of this culture war too. I don't believe God intended us to be in the streets yelling at our political opponents. He didn't want us feeling rage and anxiety every time we see a post about something we disagree with.

We are under attack as Christians but if our responses are not fair representations of God, we're not doing as we should and are therefore off our path too.

Changing our identity from the one God gave us is telling God, 'you don't know what you're doing as a creator'. It is intentionally walking away from your Godly purpose and as a result will cause nothing but misery in your life. This is true of a trans person, a gay person but also of a person who's heart is hardened by political opposition. We as Christians have a difficult task ahead of us. We are to protect our families and our communities while also being examples of God's love for everyone, including the blue-haired leftists.

John 15:18-19 “If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first. If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you.

About Me

Music is my life, but in order to have something worth writing about, it could be argued that you must first live a big life.

I'd like to think I've lived the best I could in my forty two years. I'd also like to believe I've absorbed a little wisdom along the way. On the other hand, I could be completely wrong.

Either way I thought I would write down some ideas and maybe they'd find an eye or two and spark some conversation.

The topics are not based only on music but have had influence on my songwriting to one degree or another.

I hope you enjoy

Sincerely

Justin
