Blog #34 - Jesus Wept

John 11:35 is the shortest verse in the Bible. It's one of my favorites because with just two words, it tells us so much about who Jesus was.

"Jesus wept"

That's so much more powerful a statement than it appears. Jesus had just found out that his best friend had died. Most of us know the story of Lazarus so we all know that Jesus will eventually go and resurrect him and in that moment, Jesus knew it too. Despite knowing He was going to bring Lazarus back from death, Christ still mourned.

It's important to understand this, firstly because it shows that Christ experienced life the same way we all did. He felt things the way we feel things. Secondly, it shows us, not only that mourning is important but also how to mourn. It is natural and good to mourn our losses but Jesus shows us something else as well.

Christ mourned the loss of His friend and then He went to the place where Lazarus's body lay and called him back from the dead.

Just as Jesus did, we can mourn our loved ones when we lose them but then we can move forward with our lives because we know that Christ has already saved them. They are through suffering and we will see them again because of the sacrifice Jesus made for us on the cross and because we know His experience was just like ours, His suffering was unimaginable.

Because of His beautiful sacrifice, we as Christians have been called back from death and we live again!

About Me

Music is my life, but in order to have something worth writing about, it could be argued that you must first live a big life.

I'd like to think I've lived the best I could in my forty two years. I'd also like to believe I've absorbed a little wisdom along the way. On the other hand, I could be completely wrong.

Either way I thought I would write down some ideas and maybe they'd find an eye or two and spark some conversation.

The topics are not based only on music but have had influence on my songwriting to one degree or another.

I hope you enjoy

Sincerely

Justin
